Is your home craft or hobby really a home business opportunity?
When anyone starts a new business there are two things which need to be at the heart of the project.
The first is the knowledge and skill to provide a top class product or service. Secondly you must be an enthusiast.
When you turn an interest, hobby or home craft into a home business opportunity the quality of the resulting product is key to future success in terms of reputation, word of mouth referrals from customer satisfaction and value for money.
Similarly with consultancy services the quality of advice, project management, presentation and delivery are absolutely vital.
In both cases the enthusiasm that is shown for the subject communicates to the client and infects him/her with similar feelings. Win-Win.
I have previously mentioned my unhappy at work model making friend. Unhappy no longer! At 61 years of age he has been head hunted to a new job. How's that for quality of delivery, enthusiasm, reputation and being known as an expert in your field who delivers results?
I recently asked him to make a small nut for my grass cutter. I sent him the only one I had. The machine needs two. Expecting that he would just copy it I would then have the set. Job done.
It did not work that way. He called me, wanted to know the application. Where it fitted etc., etc. His detailed review before he started work filled me with confidence that the new part would be perfect. So it turned out.
When my friend he was unhappy at work and I had been encouraging him to use his home craft (model making skills) as a small home business opportunity. He had not wanted to go that route.
What I now know for certain is that with some effective marketing he could have made a success of the home business opportunity. He delivers a top quality product, and communicates his knowledge, experience and thoroughness with enthusiasm. I am thrilled that he is now happily doing what he wants to do.
In your employment, new business or existing business be sure to know your subject, deliver exceptional quality and display enthusiasm just like my friend demonstrated with his experience and various skills in his work and with his home craft.
